National Peach Pie Day - August 24th

At the beginning of each month I fill out the calendar that we keep on our fridge door. A few months ago, after filling out June, I realized that it was going to be a long, boring month. There was very little scheduled and the kids would be home all day, every day. I grabbed my iphone and did a search for some weird holidays that could help fill in all the blank spaces - not that having nothing to do is so horrible, it is just that nothing to do for a long time well, that is horrible.   So I filled up June with Daniel Boone Day, Chocolate Ice Cream Day, Smile Day, Fudge Day, etc. Now here we are in August and still going strong with following the plethora of quirky holidays. We are pretty selective as to which ones we will honor - they usually have some kind of sugary, delectable, fun, food involved, like today - Peach Pie Day!
